How it works

  1. 01

    Drop your song

MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG or a video, up to 8 minutes. It stays on your device.

  2. 02

    Set slow and reverb

We start at 0.8 times speed with a medium reverb. Make it slower or the room bigger while it plays.

  3. 03

    Download the edit

Save a WAV of the whole slowed version, reverb tail included, at the loudness of the original.

What makes the slowed and reverb sound

The style grew out of chopped and screwed, the Houston DJ technique of playing records slower until voices dropped into a deep drawl. Online, it became slowed and reverb: a well known song, slowed to about 80 percent, soaked in a big reverb that makes it feel distant, like a memory of the song rather than the song.

Two things carry the mood. The slowdown lowers the pitch along with the tempo, so a bright pop vocal turns warm and heavy. The reverb blurs the edges, fills the space between notes and stretches every ending into a long fade.

That is why our default is 0.8 times speed, about four semitones lower, with a medium reverb. It is the sound most people mean when they search for a slowed and reverb version.

A record, not a time stretch

Some tools slow a song with time stretching and then lower the pitch separately. That works, but the double processing can add a watery, phasey shimmer. A slowed edit does not need it, because the pitch is supposed to drop.

We play the song slower exactly the way a turntable does: every sample stretched in time, the pitch falling with it, nothing invented. There are no artefacts to hide, which is why the result sounds clean even on headphones.

Then comes the reverb. We generate its tail in your browser, with the highs dying faster than the lows the way they do in a real hall, and keep the low end out of it so the bass stays tight under the wash.

Tips for a good slowed edit

Songs with space work best: ballads, R&B, dreamy pop, lo-fi beats. A dense rock mix can turn muddy when slowed, so try less reverb there.

Between 0.75 and 0.85 is the sweet spot for most songs. Lower than 0.7 starts to sound like a different instrument. If the vocal gets too deep, go back up a step and use more reverb for the mood.

Post only what you have the right to share. Your own songs, beats you made and tracks whose owner allows edits are safe. Slowed versions of other people's music are still their music.

What you get

  • Slowed like a record: speed and pitch go down together, with no stretching artefacts
  • Speed from 0.6 to 1 times, starting at the classic 0.8
  • A long, dark, smooth reverb with an amount slider
  • The reverb's tail is kept at the end of the file, not cut off
  • Hear changes live and compare with the original
  • WAV download, loudness matched, never clipping

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a slowed and reverb song?

Drop the song here. It starts at 0.8 times speed with a medium reverb. Adjust the two sliders while it plays, then download the WAV.

What speed is best for slowed songs?

Most slowed and reverb edits sit between 0.75 and 0.85 times the original speed. We start at 0.8, the most common choice.

Why does the pitch go down when I slow it?

Because we slow it like a record, which is what gives slowed edits their deep, warm sound. If you want a slower song in the same key, use our tempo changer instead.

Is the reverb cut off at the end?

No. The file is a few seconds longer than the slowed song so the reverb can ring out and fade on its own.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, in a recent mobile browser. The preview and the download both run on the phone itself.

Will the result be louder or quieter than the original?

Neither. We measure the loudness of your song and match the slowed version to it, with a limiter so nothing clips.

Do you upload my song?

No. Everything happens in your browser. Close the tab and the song is gone from here.
