▸ A LETTER FROM CARLOS, FOUNDER OF OBRA.OBRA puts us sound geeks in the spotlight we deserve.
Like many of the people who make up OBRA today, I grew up with barely any money to make music. My first mic was a mini-jack karaoke mic, I spent years mixing on hi-fi speakers as monitors, I learned bass on a Spanish guitar, and for a long time I could not afford a school or a single plugin. It is not that I have been in the mud: I am made of mud.
To this day, producers and engineers are still the ones who do the most and get the least credit for our work, when we all know that making music is, above all, solving an avalanche of unexpected problems of every kind. OBRA was born to give us the status we deserve. We are sound artists, and we deserve a gallery to exhibit our OBRA.

Nothing makes me happier than getting emails from users telling me they landed new clients thanks to their OBRA profile. The biggest producers use OBRA to negotiate their writing deals with A&Rs all over the world. OBRA is for those with 10 thousand streams and for those with 10 billion.
Now, with OBRA SUITE, something very special for me begins: hitting the table of the plugin world and offering, to those starting out, the suite I always wished I had when I started, with top-of-the-line sound and incredible performance; and to the most experienced, cutting-edge sound design tools.
OBRA, thanks to all of you, is slowly becoming a home for everyone who lives in the mud of music.
Let us keep defending with pride our way of seeing life, our hypersensitivity and our ability to give works of art to the world. And let us do it, too, for those who never could.
OBRA is home: here our profession is (a little) less lonely. I will keep working hard to keep it that way.
Carlos.
