How it works
- 01
Add a song
Drop an MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG or a video file, up to 8 minutes. It is read locally.
- 02
Speed it up
Drag from 1.05 to 1.6 times. The pitch rises with the speed. Add a touch of reverb if you like.
- 03
Take it with you
Download a WAV of the sped up song at the loudness of the original.
Nightcore, sped up and what the difference is
Nightcore began in the early 2000s with two Norwegian students who sped up dance tracks so they sounded higher and more energetic. The name stuck, and nightcore came to mean any song played faster with its pitch raised, usually around a quarter faster.
Sped up songs are the newer cousin. On short video apps, a chorus played 10 to 30 percent faster became its own trend, sometimes even more popular than the original. Technically it is the same move, just often a little gentler than classic nightcore.
Both work like a record player set too fast. Our default of 1.25 times lands almost four semitones higher, the classic nightcore sound. For a sped up edit, try 1.1 to 1.2.
Why the pitch goes up with the speed
Sound is vibration. Play it back faster and every vibration happens more often, so every note is higher. Speed a song up by a quarter and it plays about four semitones higher. That is the bright, chipmunk edge that defines nightcore.
We keep it that way on purpose. There is no time stretching here, so there are no warbles, no smeared drums and no metallic echo. It is the original audio, only played faster, which is why vocals stay crisp even at high settings.
If you want the opposite, a faster song in its original key, our tempo changer keeps the pitch while it changes the speed.
Getting a great nightcore result
Energetic songs with a clear beat suit nightcore best: dance, pop, J-pop, emo and rock anthems. Ballads can work too, the speed gives them a bittersweet rush.
Above about 1.4 times, voices start to sound like cartoons. That can be the point, but if you want it to stay musical, keep it between 1.15 and 1.3. A little reverb softens the bright top and makes the song feel bigger.
If you plan to upload the result, make sure you have the rights to the song. Many platforms detect sped up versions of commercial music.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a nightcore song?
Drop the song, keep the default 1.25 times or drag the speed slider, then download the WAV. The preview plays while you adjust.
What speed is nightcore?
Classic nightcore is usually 1.2 to 1.3 times the original speed, which raises the pitch by about three to four and a half semitones. Sped up edits are often gentler, 1.1 to 1.2.
Can I speed up a song without making it higher?
Not on this page, the rising pitch is what nightcore is. Our tempo changer speeds songs up and keeps the key.
Does it lower the audio quality?
No processing artefacts are added: the song is only played faster, the way a record would be. The download is a WAV with the original's loudness.
How long can the song be?
Up to 8 minutes. The sped up file is shorter than the original.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. It is decoded, sped up and saved by your browser.
