How it works
- 01
Drop a voice recording
A podcast, a voice note, an interview, a vocal take or the sound of a video. Up to 10 minutes, any common format. It stays on your device.
- 02
Pick a preset
Podcast, Voice note, Singing or Interview. One Amount control sets how much the chain does, from a light touch to a full broadcast sound.
- 03
Compare and download
Switch between before and after at the same loudness, so you hear the difference and not just the volume. Save a 24-bit WAV.
What a vocal enhancer does
A good voice recording goes through the same few steps in every studio. Clean it: take out the rumble below the voice, the hum and the steady background noise. Shape it: cut the muddy and boxy frequencies that make a voice sound distant, add presence so the words are clear, and a little air on top. Tame the s sounds. Then even it out, so quiet words are not lost and loud ones do not jump, and finally set the loudness to the level podcasts and streaming services expect.
This tool runs that chain for you, in that order, with the signal processing of OBRA Mastering PRO: a low cut, the hum remover, a plosive tamer, the noise reduction, the EQ, a de-esser, a fast compressor for peaks, a slow one for the overall level, and a true-peak limiter. The compressors are set from your recording's own levels, so a whispered voice note and a shouted interview both get the same amount of control.
Podcast voice settings
For a podcast, the targets that matter are loudness and consistency. Apple Podcasts and most podcast hosts recommend about -16 LUFS integrated for stereo, with true peaks no higher than -1 dBTP. The Podcast, Voice note and Interview presets land exactly there; Singing aims at -14 LUFS, the reference of the big streaming services for music.
The usual starting points for a spoken voice are a low cut around 80 to 100 Hz, a cut of 2 to 4 dB around 250 to 350 Hz for mud, a small cut around 600 to 800 Hz for boxiness, a lift around 3 to 4 kHz for presence, and a gentle shelf above 10 kHz for air. Compression of 3 to 6 dB on the loud words keeps the voice close. That is what the presets do at full Amount; lower Amount scales every move down together.
Interview levels the most, for two people at different distances from the microphone. Voice note cuts more low end and noise, for phone microphones. Podcast is the balanced one. Singing keeps more dynamics and air.
Why the before and after is level-matched
Louder always sounds better for a moment. If the enhanced file is 6 dB louder than the original, almost anyone will prefer it, whatever the processing did. So, by default, we play the original at the same loudness as the result while you compare. What you hear is the tone, the clarity and the evenness, not the volume. Untick Match level to hear the raw original.
Get the best result
Record close to the microphone in a quiet, soft room, and leave a second of silence before you start. The enhancer can lift a decent recording to a professional one. It cannot remove heavy reverb or clipping, and very loud changing noise, such as a street or a café, will still be there in the pauses.
If the voice sounds too bright or the s sounds too sharp, lower the Amount. If it still sounds thin and distant, raise it. For a song, enhance the vocal stem, then mix and master the whole track: a mastered song is the step that makes it sound finished.

As of November 2026, from the public pages of Adobe Podcast. Features, limits and prices change, check their site. An AI enhancer can make a phone call or a noisy room sound like a studio, because it rebuilds the voice; it can also make every voice sound alike. Ours keeps your recording and does what an engineer would do to it.
Frequently asked questions
Is this vocal enhancer free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no limit on files. Each file can be up to 10 minutes long.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, on your device. Your audio is never sent anywhere.
Is it an AI voice enhancer?
No. It is a vocal chain of signal processing, the one OBRA Mastering PRO uses, set automatically from your recording. It does not rebuild or replace your voice, so it sounds like you, only clearer and more even.
What loudness does it give?
-16 LUFS integrated for the Podcast, Voice note and Interview presets, and -14 LUFS for Singing, with true peaks at or below -1 dBTP. The result shows the measured numbers.
Which preset should I choose?
Podcast for a single voice on a decent microphone. Voice note for a phone recording. Interview for two or more people, or uneven levels. Singing for a vocal take you will put in a song.
What does the Amount control change?
How far every step goes: the noise reduction, the EQ cuts and boosts, the de-esser, the compression and the leveling. At 0 only the low cut, the hum removal and the loudness are applied. The default is 60.
Can I enhance the voice in a video?
Yes. Drop the video and we use its sound. Download the WAV and put it back on the video in your editor.
Should I also use the noise remover?
Not usually: the enhancer already includes noise reduction. Use the noise remover first when the noise is strong, or when you want to choose the noise profile yourself.
