What you ask
In BRAVO's chat, or from your own AI once it is connected:
- Master ~/Music/my-song.wav for Spotify and tell me the loudness before and after.
- What is open in BRAVO, and what is too loud?
- Judge this mix: what are the three things that hurt it most?
- Bring the vocal up 1 dB, then listen again and check the true peak.
What you get back
- Mastered 24-bit WAV files on your Mac, never written over the original or over another file.
- Claude's summary of what changed, based on what BRAVO measured: loudness in LUFS, true peak, tone by band and what its judge found.
- Every change Claude makes in the project is one undo step in BRAVO.
How to do it
- Join the list and install BRAVO. BRAVO is a free beta for Mac with Apple Silicon, opening by waves. Join the list on obra.art/bravo; when your wave opens you get one email with the download.
- Switch on «Connect your AI» in BRAVO. In BRAVO, open Settings, go to «Connect your AI» and switch on the Connector. BRAVO opens a port on 127.0.0.1 and creates a private key (a token) that stays on your Mac. It is off until you switch it on, and you can switch it off at any time.
- Add BRAVO to Claude. Claude Desktop: in the same panel, press «Install in Claude Desktop» and confirm the extension in Claude Desktop. Claude Code: copy the command the panel shows and paste it into your terminal. Without the extension, Claude Desktop also takes the «bravo» entry inside «mcpServers» in claude_desktop_config.json.
- Allow it on your project. The first time your AI touches a project, BRAVO asks whether that app may work on it. Allow it once per project; «Revoke all» in the same panel takes every permission back.
- Ask for the master or the change. Ask Claude in your own words. Claude looks at the project, runs the job in BRAVO, checks the result with BRAVO's measurements and tells you what it did.
- Listen, keep or undo. Listen in BRAVO. Keep the file, ask for a change («a bit less loud») or undo the step.
What Claude can do in BRAVO
The connector gives Claude these tools:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| bravo_connection | Checks that BRAVO is open, the Connector is on and which version it is. |
| bravo_look | Reads the open project as it is now: tracks, their chains and clips, tempo, chords and what is selected. |
| bravo_can | Answers «what can I do with this?» with the exact actions available. |
| bravo_do | Runs a list of actions as one undo step and reports what changed and what could not be done, with the reason. |
| bravo_ask | Answers a question about the project as text. A request phrased as a question can still add to the project, as one undo step. |
| bravo_hear | Renders the mix in memory and measures it: loudness, true peak, dynamics, tone by band and the low end in mono. Its judge names what is wrong first, what is fine, a score out of 100 and the fixes as actions. |
| bravo_master_file | Masters an audio file end to end: loudness to the target (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Tidal, club or a number in LUFS), true peak under −1 dBTP, written as a 24-bit WAV of the same length. |
| bravo_screen | A picture of the BRAVO window, to see what you see. |
| bravo_state | The whole project as data, for the details bravo_look leaves out. |
| bravo_catalog | The list of BRAVO actions with their arguments. |
| bravo_verb | Runs one BRAVO action through the checked path. |
| bravo_wait | Waits until the project changes instead of asking again and again. |
| bravo_project | Saves the open project to its own file, or starts an empty one when nothing is unsaved. |
Who pays for what
Claude runs on your own Claude account, so Claude's side is covered by your Claude plan. BRAVO and the connector are free in the beta, and the audio work runs on your Mac.
BRAVO's built-in AI has a daily allowance, larger with OBRA PRO. Mastering, exporting and batches run on your Mac and use no AI, and your own Claude has no BRAVO limit.
Limits
- Claude needs BRAVO open on the same Mac. The connector answers only on 127.0.0.1, so a Claude running on another computer cannot reach it.
- Claude Code needs Node 18 or later on your Mac, and so does Claude Desktop when you use claude_desktop_config.json instead of the extension.
- Claude hears through BRAVO's measurements and renders, not with human ears. Trust your own listening for the final call.
- Connected apps cannot record from your microphone, open other projects, change BRAVO's settings or open plugin windows.
- Beta: Mac with Apple Silicon only. Windows comes later.
- Access opens by waves from the waiting list.
- BRAVO works on the audio you bring. It does not generate songs.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Claude to use BRAVO?
No. BRAVO has its own chat on its Home screen. Connecting Claude is optional, for people who already work in Claude Desktop or Claude Code.
Does Claude get my audio files?
BRAVO answers Claude with text: the project state, measurements and results, and a picture of the window if Claude asks for one. The audio stays on your Mac; the connector does not upload it to OBRA.
Can another app on my Mac use the connector?
Not without the key. The port is closed until you switch it on, it only listens on 127.0.0.1 and it closes any connection that does not bring the key. The key lives in a file only your macOS user can read, and BRAVO makes a new one every time it opens. On top of that, BRAVO asks you before an app works on a project.
Is BRAVO free?
Yes, the beta is free. OBRA PRO, the same subscription as the rest of OBRA, gives BRAVO's built-in AI a larger daily allowance.
