Use BRAVO from Codex and Cursor

If you build games, apps or videos in Codex or Cursor, your agent can hand the audio work to BRAVO: normalize a folder of sound effects, master the soundtrack, and get the files back in your project.

In the BRAVO beta

What you ask

In BRAVO's chat, or from your own AI once it is connected:

  • Normalize every sound in ~/Game/assets/sfx to -18 LUFS with a -1 dBTP peak, as 16-bit WAV, into ~/Game/assets/sfx-out.
  • Master ~/Game/assets/music/theme.wav for YouTube and tell me the loudness before and after.
  • Trim the silence at the start and end of every file in this folder.

What you get back

  • Processed files written where you asked, with a report per file: loudness before and after, true peak, and any file that failed with the reason. The report is also saved in the output folder as bravo-batch-report.md and .json.
  • Your agent can read the report and carry on with its task.

How to do it

  1. Join the list and install BRAVO. BRAVO is a free beta for Mac with Apple Silicon, opening by waves. Join the list on obra.art/bravo; when your wave opens you get one email with the download.
  2. Switch on «Connect your AI» in BRAVO. In BRAVO, open Settings, go to «Connect your AI» and switch on the Connector. BRAVO opens a port on 127.0.0.1 and creates a private key (a token) that stays on your Mac. It is off until you switch it on, and you can switch it off at any time.
  3. Add BRAVO to Codex. Copy the setup the panel shows for Codex and add it to the end of ~/.codex/config.toml. It sets a long tool timeout, because mastering a long file can take more than a minute. Restart Codex.
  4. Add BRAVO to Cursor. Copy the setup the panel shows for Cursor into ~/.cursor/mcp.json, as the «bravo» entry inside «mcpServers». If the file is empty, paste it whole.
  5. Allow it on your project. The first time your AI touches a project, BRAVO asks whether that app may work on it. Allow it once per project; «Revoke all» in the same panel takes every permission back.
  6. Ask your agent. Ask in plain words, with the folders. The agent calls BRAVO, BRAVO writes the files and returns the report.

Good jobs for a coding agent

  • Game audio: one loudness for every sound effect, voice line and music cue.
  • Video: master the music bed as a 24-bit WAV for your editor.
  • Podcasts: one loudness for every episode.
  • Sample packs: trimmed, normalized, consistent files.

Limits

  • BRAVO must be open on the same Mac as the agent. Cloud agents that run on remote machines cannot reach it.
  • Codex and Cursor run BRAVO's connector with Node 18 or later.
  • Folders are absolute paths on your Mac. BRAVO reads only audio, video, MIDI and preset files and writes only where it is told: the batch output folder, or a master inside your home folder or on an external drive.
  • BRAVO writes WAV and FLAC, not MP3.
  • Beta: Mac with Apple Silicon only. Windows comes later.
  • Access opens by waves from the waiting list.
  • BRAVO works on the audio you bring. It does not generate songs.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to write code to use BRAVO from Codex or Cursor?

No. You ask the agent in plain words; it calls BRAVO's tools.

Can my agent run BRAVO without the app open?

No. The connector is part of the BRAVO app and only answers while BRAVO is open and the Connector is on.

BRAVO is a free beta for Mac with Apple Silicon. Access opens by waves from the list.
