Where LANDR is the better choice
- You want to master inside your DAW: LANDR sells a mastering plugin, and a Studio subscription includes it (Standard and Pro). OBRA is a web page.
- You want mastering and distribution under one login: LANDR also distributes music to streaming services.
- You already pay for LANDR Studio and master many songs a month with MP3 delivery or its WAV tiers.
- You prefer a phone app: LANDR has iOS and Android apps that sync with its web library.
Where OBRA is the better choice
- You want the file, not a preview: two full-quality downloads a day cost nothing and need no account.
- You master a song or two now and then: a free tier or $3 beats $10 per track.
- Your song is unreleased and you would rather not upload it anywhere: the OBRA engine runs in your browser and the file stays on your device.
- You want to understand what was done: OBRA writes down each move (EQ, multiband, stereo, limiting) with its number and its reason, and the Studio lets you change any of them.
Both measure loudness in LUFS and offer a reference-track mode and album mastering. OBRA makes no claim about which of the two sounds better on your song. The fair way to find out is below.
What it costs, in numbers
Ten songs in a month on LANDR's single-track price is $100. On OBRA the first two songs of each day are free, so ten songs over five days cost nothing; if you want all ten in one day, the eight beyond the free two are $3 each, $24. LANDR Studio changes that maths for heavy users (unlimited online mastering), which is why the table lists its tiers; read their pricing page for the current tier prices, which this page does not repeat because they were not shown without logging in.
Compare them on your own song
LANDR's free preview makes this easy: master the same mix on both, then match the loudness of the preview and of OBRA's master (LANDR's own help suggests matching input and output volume while previewing) before judging. Listen to the chorus and the quietest part, on headphones and on a phone.
If you want a person to do it
Every service on this page is automatic. If the mix itself is the problem (a muddy low end, a vocal that sits wrong), a master cannot fix it, and a person can. OBRA ULTRA sends your tracks to an OBRA engineer who mixes and masters your song and sends back a WAV and a written note, $19 / €19 / £19 per round, back within 72 hours. Spots are limited each week.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free alternative to LANDR?
Yes. OBRA Audio Mastering masters two songs a day free with no account and lets you download a 24-bit WAV or FLAC. LANDR lets you preview for free and charges for the download.
How much does LANDR cost per song?
LANDR's mastering page says a single track costs $10, with no subscription needed. LANDR Studio has three tiers (Essentials, Standard, Pro) with unlimited online mastering. Checked 27 October 2026.
Does OBRA upload my song like LANDR does?
No. OBRA's mastering engine runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device. LANDR processes the song on its servers, so you upload it.
Does LANDR give WAV files?
Yes: MP3 at 320 kbps, 16-bit WAV and 24-bit HD WAV, according to LANDR's FAQ. On Studio, WAV and HD WAV come with the Standard and Pro tiers.
How do I compare two masters fairly?
Match their loudness first (louder always sounds better for a few seconds), then listen to the chorus and the quietest part on headphones and on a phone speaker. Check the true peak of the files you download: −1 dBTP or lower for streaming. OBRA matches the loudness for you when you compare its three masters with your original.
