Bio

pølaroit is a melodic house duo from Hannover, Northern Germany, formed by Jonas Gewald and Marius Lesemann, who met at a Christmas market in 2018. Jonas trained as a pianist shaped by neo-classical composers like Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds and scores for film and advertising, while Marius is a lifelong drummer rooted in percussion and the urban electronic scene. Their sound lives between melancholic downtempo and uplifting, lush melodies — the name nods to their polar northern roots and Detroit's techno heritage. Their debut EP 'expedition into' on Stil vor Talent earned recognition across Germany and beyond, and they've since collaborated with Deutsche Grammophon, Ki Records, and Cercle (including an India-filmed live video for 'Backwaters'), plus the techno marching band MEUTE on the track 'Verden'. They remain prolific in 2026 with a steady run of singles including 'Flicker (Faro)' and 'Light Up'.
