Philanthrope

Bio

Philanthrope is the moniker of Simon, a lo-fi and jazz-hop producer based in Innsbruck, Austria, and one of the most influential beatmakers in the modern chillhop scene. He adopted the name 'Philanthrope' after encountering the word during his first semester studying psychology, drawn to its meaning. Sample-based hip-hop and jazz shape his signature sound — moody, deep, blunted instrumentals crafted almost entirely in Logic Pro. His catalog spans full-length projects like Clockwork and Cabin in the Woods, his early 2015 release Quintessenz und ihre Nuancen, and collaborations with artists such as Obijuan, Benaddict and mommy. Beyond producing, he holds an A&R position at Chillhop Music, where he curates playlists and helps sign new instrumental talent. With roughly 493,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and a steady run of fresh 2026 singles, Philanthrope remains one of lo-fi's most prolific and respected voices.
