Bio

Montoya is an ItaloColombian composer, producer and sonic storyteller based in Treviso, Italy. Classically trained as a violinist, he fuses IDM, techno and electronic textures with indigenous Andean folklore, Pacific ancestral rhythms and the tropical cumbia of Colombia's Caribbean coast — a sound at the heart of the electrocumbia and Latin American electronica movement championed by ZZK Records. He studied at Fabrica in Treviso and builds his tracks like recipes, layering field-recorded indigenous voices, acoustic instruments and modern production into cinematic, dancefloor-ready compositions. His catalogue spans the albums Iwa Deluxe (2016), Otun (2019, co-produced with Richard Blair of Sidestepper), El Nido (2023) and the brand-new Tayta (June 2026), alongside a steady run of singles and remixes. With roughly 103,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and releases on ZZK Records and White Forest Records, Montoya is an active, internationally touring mid-tier producer.
