Bio

Makèz is a DJ and producer duo from Amsterdam, formed by Willem Mulder and Kees van 't Klooster, who met as teenagers over a shared love of house music and have spent more than 15 years developing their sound. Their style blends the timeless feel of jazz and soul with classic house and hip-hop rhythms, drawing on influences like Slum Village and Moodymann. They have released on respected house labels including Heist Recordings, No Art, Let's Play House, Classic Music Company and Defected's Remedy Project, and have collaborated with the likes of Inner City, Folamour, Nebraska and Dreamcastmoe. Their 2023 track 'Downstream ft. Life On Planets' became one of summer's most sought-after track IDs and marked their international breakthrough. In October 2025 they released their sophomore album 'Arriving Home Elsewhere' on No Art, followed by a steady run of EPs and singles into 2026. Known for an almost telepathic studio chemistry, the pair make music that challenges listeners to hear beyond surface-level expectations.
