G Mills is the jazz-inspired lo-fi project of Brooklyn-based producer, beatmaker and drummer Gabe Millman. Classically and jazz-trained, he studied jazz, classical percussion and audio engineering at Ithaca College, and cut his teeth playing drums in metal, punk, funk and jazz bands before turning to production. That background shows in his music: deeply layered compositions where buttery chord structures melt into his signature dusty beats and intricate sound design. He cites Roy Hargrove, Flying Lotus, Shigeto, juj and Elaquent as touchstones for the way they blur the line between hip-hop and jazz. His catalog spans EPs and singles like 'Gates' and 'Yuzu', released across respected lo-fi and chillhop homes including Inner Ocean Records, Chillhop Music and PLYGRND.
