Bio

AK420 is a German beatmaker, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Leverkusen, near Dusseldorf, known for his signature blend of boom-bap, lo-fi and jazz - 'organic, jazzy, raw' instrumental hip hop in the tradition of the golden era. The project began on April 20, 2014 while he was still drumming in the death metal band Stillbirth; a trip to Lisbon inspired his debut EP 'Rua Augusta'. Since then he has built a deep catalogue of instrumental albums and EPs, layering laid-back jazz harmonies and catchy melodies over heavy-hitting drums. He has collaborated with artists including Flitz&Suppe (the 2025 album 'NIGHTBRAWLERS'), Teknical Development, Menteroja and Lord Folter, and records for the Stereofox label. With around 74k monthly listeners on Spotify and a steady release cadence - his latest single 'Galaxies' dropped in May 2026 - AK420 is a prolific, active producer with a loyal lo-fi and boom-bap following.
