Tunkuy is the artistic project of Iván Jaque, a Mexican producer with Chilean roots who lives and works in Munich, Germany. His music reflects a deep taste for dub enriched with electronic textures, experimenting across reggae, dancehall, afrobeat, funk, and cumbia within an Afro-Latin rhythmic framework. His debut album Pulmari (2023) on Matanga Records maps landscapes from remote South American communities to Northern ceremonial pilgrimages, merging deep dub basslines with Latin percussion and ancestral soundscapes. With over twenty years of experience as a producer, sound engineer, and musician collaborating with bands across the Americas, he channels that heritage into solo work that feels both ritualistic and club-ready. He performs solo, as a trio, or with a full band, touring Mexico and Europe between 2023 and 2025. March 2026 singles "Quimbamba" and "Kolymbethra" mark the next phase toward his second full-length album.
