Toonorth (Dominic Martin) is an instrumental lo-fi hip-hop and jazz-beats producer based in Ashland, Oregon. He picked up the saxophone in 6th grade and started making electronic music around 2009-2010, releasing beats steadily since 2013. He describes his sound as "hazy, smoked out, and smooth as hell" — warm, downtempo instrumentals built on an OP-1, SP-404, guitar and Ableton. Toonorth is a core member of the Chillhop Music roster, appearing across multiple Chillhop Essentials seasonal compilations (most recently Spring 2026) and running his ongoing instrumental "Car Tunes" series. His catalogue spans albums like Ambedo and Aftersome plus dozens of singles, and he has lent production to artists such as Chester Watson ("Opal Arrowheads") and Lord Apex. His latest single, "Badlands," dropped in May 2026.
