Thoma is an electronic music duo formed by childhood friends and producers Tristan de Liège and Benjamin Hill (Cuervo Cuervo, Invite the Infinite). Influenced by early 2000s electronica, jazz, world music, house, and techno, they blend IDM, downtempo, and global percussion into productions that move between the dancefloor and immersive listening. Their albums are shaped by the places they record—from Vancouver Island and Detroit to Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, and rural Oklahoma—working with different synths, samplers, and live instrumentalists on each project. After rich string and woodwind arrangements on 2021's Ikiru and 2023's Pictures of Infinity on Folded Music, they self-released the dancefloor-focused Ondea in 2025. Their new album Leaving Cycles on Stereofox (June 2026) features a dialogue between synths and live percussion with collaborator James Waterman, drawing on Indonesian gamelan, West African polyrhythms, and Latin percussion. The duo has toured the U.S. alongside Com Truise, Emancipator, Two Lanes, Blockhead, il:lo, and Wax Tailor, with editorial support on Spotify playlists like Music for Plants and Quirktronica.
