Born in 1990, tajima hal is a Yokohama-based beatmaker and hip-hop producer who founded the independent label Hermit City Recordings. He started making music in 2008 and released his debut album Tones on Belgium's Urban Waves Records in 2015, followed by European tours through Paris, Dortmund, Zürich, and Budapest, plus California shows at Fat Beats and KPFK radio during AKTR's release tour. A key figure in Japan's contemporary beat scene, he organizes OPEN1 beat events in Tokyo and co-runs OPEN1 Radio with Lidly, sharing stages with Bugseed, Pigeondust, ill.sugi, budamunk, and Yotaro. His catalog spans lo-fi hip hop, jazz-hop, and instrumental boom-bap across albums like Isolated Planet, ODD SELECTIONS, and Thin Lines. He was featured on House Shoes Presents: BEATS!!!! The Japanese Sound! (May 2026) and Chillhop's Timezones Japan compilation, and dropped the single stew in June 2026.
