Kai Rappold, known as Surreal, is a liquid drum & bass producer and DJ from Frankfurt, Germany. Active since 2016, he crafts soulful, tech-infused DnB built on old-school sub-bass rhythms, deep liquid textures, and influences from soul, funk, and 90s hip-hop icons like Pete Rock and KRS-One. His releases span respected imprints including Fokuz, Galacy, Innerground, Spearhead, Soulvent, and Four Corners, earning support from BBC Radio 1, Rinse.fm, Bassdrive, and peers such as Marky, Fabio & Grooverider, and Zero T. 2025–2026 has been his busiest run yet: the Sundown EP (March 2026), singles Chameleon and Inbetween on Galacy, and Green Eye on Fokuz. Featured in UKF's 2026 Ones To Watch and Liquicity's artist roster, Surreal also hosts liquid mixes on the Fokuz and Celsius podcast series while maintaining active Instagram and SoundCloud presences as @surreal.dnb.
