Born and raised in Lattakia, he helped spark underground electronic gatherings in Syria from 2003 before relocating to Dubai in 2011, where he co-founded the Desert Dream Community and became a key figure behind desert festival culture across the Middle East—including Desert Dream, Elements, Kaynouna, Eunoia, and Sandance. His sets cross house and techno with Middle Eastern instrumentation and long-form groove; he has played landmark stages including Expo 2020 Dubai and continues touring internationally. On Spotify his 2026 catalog is especially active—Dune / Nebula, We Are the Sand Pirates, Grandma Dance, and the fresh single Dhaka—while Beatport releases like Zurna and Tambura anchor his oriental-deep lane. He also streams and collaborates widely (including with Omar Alkilani) and runs projects under the Papa Kamal banner. ## Has worked with [Explore all credits](https://obra.art/special-k-sy#artistas) 1.1M Total plays & views Projects16 Since2022 Verified streams · verified today 1,121,094 +2 K a day · +60 K a month, on average 16 projects · 13 artists · since 2022 spotify 100 % 1,121,094 70 days · Total ## Records [30K has passed 30,000 streams Malagueña Hijaz Convoy, Special K (SY), Omar Alkilani 17 days ago](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/malaguena) [30K has passed 30,000 streams Al Shuhuh Hijaz Convoy, Special K (SY), Omar Alkilani 25 days ago](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/al-shuhuh) [80K has passed 80,000 streams Papa Kamal Hijaz Convoy, Special K (SY), Omar Alkilani, Sound Of Dunes 31 days ago](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/papa-kamal) [10K has passed 10,000 streams Grandma Dance Special K (SY), Beard2Beard, Omar Alkilani 45 days ago](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/grandma-dance) Most played ## Most played [01 Zurna Evan Mars, Special K (SY) 329.661 330 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/zurna) [02 Tambura Alper Yigit, Special K (SY) 161.756 162 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/tambura) [03 Levania Bonama, Special K (SY) 134.617 135 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/levania) [04 Naqshbandi Evan Mars, Special K (SY) 89.079 89 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/naqshbandi-2) [05 Papa Kamal Hijaz Convoy, Special K (SY), Omar Alkilani, Sound Of Dunes 83.973 84 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/papa-kamal) [06 Naqshbandi - Extended Mix Evan Mars, Special K (SY) 71.936 72 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/naqshbandi-extended-mix) [07 Al Shuhuh Hijaz Convoy, Special K (SY), Omar Alkilani 30.836 31 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/al-shuhuh) [08 Malagueña Hijaz Convoy, Special K (SY), Omar Alkilani 30.416 30 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/malaguena) [09 Sunda Blaze - Original Mix Bonama, Special K (SY) 29.788 30 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/sunda-blaze-original-mix) [10 Dune - Special K (SY) & Omar Alkilani Remix Saraabb, Special K (SY), Omar Alkilani, Laaar 18.095 18 K](https://obra.art/special-k-sy/dune-special-k-sy-and-omar-alkilani-remix-2) Has worked with ## 13 artists.
