Somni
Somni is Leo Shulman, a UK-born, Los Angeles–based producer, singer/songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Born into a family of classical musicians, he studied guitar, jazz, and folk before pivoting to beatmaking in his teens, drawing from Flying Lotus, Shlohmo, Teebs, Burial, and Portishead. Signed to Friends of Friends in 2018, he has released albums Bloom (2018), Home (2020), Gravity (2023), and The Cost Of Living (April 2026)—a raw songwriting-driven record processing grief through intimate indie and lo-fi textures. His June 2026 single Scorched Earth continues a streak of experimental instrumental work blending tape loops, shoegaze noise, and cinematic beats. Featured by NPR, Mixmag, Pigeons and Planes, Bandcamp Daily, and Electronic Sound, Somni bridges bedroom pop, experimental hip-hop, and ambient electronic production. He also works as a mixing and mastering engineer for hip-hop, R&B, and electronic clients under his legal name via SoundBetter.
