Known as sleeping with shoes on (SWSO), John Gabriel builds soulful lo-fi and beat-driven instrumentals by sampling and chopping vinyl, layering his own guitar, bass, synthesizers and keys. He has production credits with Conway The Machine, FKi 1$T, Coco Jones, Ransom, OT The Real and FURNS, and has collaborated with Cisco Adler, Alex Rose (Minus The Bear), Baron Davis and Flamingosis. Beyond streaming, SWSO played sets at Aviator Nation Dreamland, organized a mini tour in Japan in May 2025, and opened for BRAKE and BLU on Record Store Day. Recent releases include the 2025 album 2nd Degree Murda, the 2026 single Soulful, and ongoing lo-fi playlist curation on Spotify.
