Rafael Anton Irisarri is an Ibero-American composer, producer and mastering engineer based in New York's Hudson Valley, working across ambient, drone, experimental and modern classical. He is the founder and owner of Black Knoll Studio, one of the most respected mastering rooms in experimental music, established in 2010. As a mastering engineer his credits include work with Terry Riley, Ryuichi Sakamoto, William Basinski, MONO, Grouper, Devendra Banhart, Eluvium, Julia Kent, Clarice Jensen, Oliver Coates, Scanner and Telefon Tel Aviv. Under his own name he has released a deep catalogue of acclaimed albums on labels such as Room40, Umor Rex, Dais and his own Black Knoll Editions, with new music in 2026. His sound is built from heavily processed guitar, synthesizers and tape, layered into dense, cinematic washes.
