Portland, Oregon producer Oatmello arrived in 2017 with a laidback lo-fi hip-hop sound, layering warm vinyl hiss over soft acoustic samples and understated beats. One of the first lo-fi artists to gain traction on SoundCloud and help shape the genre today, his project blends jazz, ambient, hip-hop, and electronic into dream-like, introspective instrumentals that have accumulated over 250 million streams worldwide. Classically trained in piano, Oatmello continuously explores new production techniques and collaborations — including game soundtracks like Dreamsweeper and an ambient side project as late.era. Signed to Nettwerk Records, he envisions the music as an antidote to attention-demanding media and a continuation of the instrumental hip-hop tradition. Recent releases include In a Cabin in the Snow (March 2026) and singles across Spotify editorial playlists from Lofi Girl to human-made, with roughly 424k monthly listeners keeping pace with his prolific catalog.
