Nicholas Craven

Bio

Nicholas Craven is a Montreal-based hip-hop producer known for soulful, gritty beats built on heavy sample-chop work that rarely leans on drums. Born and raised in Gatineau, Quebec, he started producing at thirteen and has been releasing music professionally for over a decade, building a catalog of more than 60 projects across Spotify and Bandcamp. His production has powered records by Roc Marciano, Mach-Hommy, billy woods, Boldy James, Conway the Machine, Benny the Butcher, Your Old Droog, Tha God Fahim, and Navy Blue, placing him among the most-trusted beatmakers in modern underground rap. Drawing inspiration from J Dilla and A Tribe Called Quest while keeping fealty to the gritty sound of New York hip-hop, his solo Craven N trilogy and the collaborative Directors Cut series with Ransom have become reference points in the boom-bap revival. He stays prolific year-round: 2026 alone has already brought multiple full-length releases including Play With Something Safe, Scottie Trippin, Salvation for the Wicked, and Ultimate Dump Gawd 2.
