Navy Blue is the recording project of Sage Gabriel Carlos Atreyu Elsesser (b. 1997, Los Angeles), a rapper, songwriter and record producer who is also a professional skateboarder, visual artist and model. Emerging from the abstract New York underground hip-hop scene alongside peers like Earl Sweatshirt and MIKE, he builds soulful, sample-based, jazz-inflected beats under spiritual, introspective lyricism. Across albums including Song of Sage: Post Panic! (2020), Navy's Reprise (2021), Ways of Knowing (2023), Memoirs In Armour (2024) and The Sword & The Soaring (2025), he has become one of the most respected voices in modern underground rap. His 2026 album Sir Render (Freedom Sounds) — a 15-track reckoning with sobriety and mental health — features Earl Sweatshirt, Armand Hammer and a posthumous verse from the late Brooklyn legend Ka, and earned wide critical praise on release. He self-produces much of his catalog and has also produced for other artists in the scene.
