Bio

mpbanga is a UK beatmaker and producer from Bedfordshire working out of a home studio, crafting soulful lo-fi, chillhop, and boombap instrumentals rooted in 90s golden-era hip-hop. His path into production started with DJing and vinyl digging after falling under the spell of Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Havoc, and J Dilla, then deepened when he first touched an Akai S1000 sampler in a proper studio. During 2020 lockdown he stopped hoarding hundreds of beats on hard drives and began releasing publicly — a bet that paid off with millions of streams across label drops on Chill Select, Kindbrew, Brunch Collect, New Peace Music, and Stay Peachy, plus Spotify editorials like chill lofi study beats and Lofi Beats. Standout singles include Cassette (Chill Select, 2022), You Asked For Chill (Kindbrew, 2023), Tired Heart (Stay Peachy, 2025), and Forever (Stay Peachy, June 2026). He also curates the Chillhop with Soul playlist and runs active community channels on Instagram and Slaps, describing his work as jazz-inflected beatmaking where every track tells its own story.
