Mike Dunn is a Chicago house music legend who hails from Englewood, Chicago. One of the earliest architects of acid house, he was doing live production at neighborhood block parties with dual reel-to-reels and drum machines before the genre had a name. He collaborated with house pioneers Ron Hardy and Larry Heard, releasing his debut 'Dance You Mutha' on Westbrook Records in 1987. Through aliases MD Connection, QX-1, and The Jass Man, he created iconic tracks like 'God Made Me Phunky,' 'So Let It Be House!' and 'Grooving' on labels including Trax and Nervous Records. He also produced and engineered for Armando, Fast Eddie, and K-Alexi Shelby. In 2019 he released his first album in 27 years ('My House, From All Angles') on Classic Records, and launched his own Blackball Muzik label. Mike continues to release prolifically — including a 2026 EP '(I'm Sick) I've Been Infected Wit House Musick' and collaborations with DJ Spen and Claude Monnet — while touring globally at venues like Panorama Bar in Berlin and Fabric in London.
