Mecca:83

Bio

Mecca:83 is the main alias of Evan Jones, a Manchester-based music producer, beatmaker and crate digger who has spent close to two decades knee-deep in vintage drum machines and dusty records. His sound blends deep jazz samples with live instrumentation over boom-bap and lo-fi hip hop foundations — The Guardian described it as "an ethereal, jazzy take on boom bap, equal parts Air's Moon Safari and Minnie Riperton circa her work with Rotary Connection." He also records as Rise (sample-based jazz) and under aliases like Redefinition and Alexis Davis. Beyond his catalogue he founded the Expansions Collective label, hosts a radio show and runs music-production workshops across the UK and Europe. Recent releases include the album "Until Dawn" (2025) and the 2026 single "Silent Movements", with earlier full-lengths "Quiet Storm" and "Samskara". His tagline says it all: future vintage vibes.
