MAUIMØON (Donald Ngoga Otim) is a Ugandan artist-producer working at the intersection of Alté, Afro R&B and Afro-soul. Born in 1997, he grew up between Rwanda, Uganda, the UK and Canada, and started out as a beatmaker on SoundCloud under the alias La Soülchyld before stepping in front of the mic. In February 2023 he became the first East African artist named to Apple Music's Up Next program — a list whose alumni include Burna Boy, Tems and Rema — and was picked up by Spotify's Fresh Finds Africa around the same time. His debut LP 'From Uganda With Love' (2023, via Palagroove) and the 2024 album 'For The Love of R&B Vol 1' (credited jointly to MAUIMØON & La Soülchyld) cemented his reputation as one of the region's most distinctive voices and producers, with The Culturing scoring the latter 8.8/10. He's collaborated with Joshua Baraka, Elijah Kitaka, Zowie and Mau From Nowhere, and has been profiled by The NATIVE, Music In Africa, OkayAfrica and Afrocritik, which named him among 25 emerging African artists to watch in 2026. Recent singles include 'Take Control' (March 2026), 'Bounce' (August 2025) and 'BMB (Be My Baby)' (June 2025).
