Makeup and Vanity Set is the project of Matthew Steven Pusti, an American electronic musician, producer and composer based in Nashville, Tennessee. Active since 2003, he has built one of the most prolific catalogues in modern synthwave, releasing dozens of albums of cinematic, analog-driven electronic music alongside scores for film, television, video games and podcasts. His sound blends synthwave, vaporwave and darkwave with a strong narrative, soundtrack sensibility — concept records like '88:88' and '7.25.2148' play like soundtracks to films that don't exist. In 2022 his music gained wide exposure when Stranger Things Season 4 featured eight of his tracks across four episodes. He continues to release new material at a remarkable pace, with several albums and singles already out in 2026.
