Maara (Maara-Louisa Dunbar) is a Montréal-born producer, DJ and vocalist now based between Berlin and the international club circuit. She broke through in 2021 with Ultimate Reward on NAFF Recordings and has since built a catalog of playful, prog-leaning club music across labels including Kalahari Oyster Cult, ISLA and her own imprint Ancient Records. Her debut album The Ancient Truth (2023) led to live debuts at MUTEK, Solstice and Sustain-Release, and she was named to Beatport Next Class of 2026. February 2026 brought Ultra Villain on NAFF — a narrative-driven LP blending trip-hop, IDM and alt-R&B with her own vocals — followed by 2026 singles including Home with Groovity. Resident Advisor, DJ Mag and MUTEK describe her sound as whimsical yet floor-focused: acid house and breakbeat grooves with kinetic DJ energy and a distinct queer underground voice.
