lovetempo is the 'lonelyhearts disco' project of Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter and producer Mattie Safer — formerly of dance-punk band The Rapture (1999–2009) and currently bassist and vocalist for Poolside. The project fuses saudade sentimentality and jazz-funk excursions with shimmering disco, house grooves and modern dancefloor sensibilities, exploring love through 'body, soul, and basslines.' Safer self-produces the project, with singles landing on respected disco labels Razor-N-Tape and Toucan Sounds before his self-released debut album 'There Is A Light' arrived on vinyl in April 2026. Recent cuts like 'The Right Way' and 'Wanna Be With You' have become dancefloor favorites, drawing remixes from Crackazat, Fouk and house legend Eric Kupper. Rooted in one of NYC's most influential dance-punk acts, lovetempo channels decades of musical experience into a soulful, contemporary disco sound.
