KOLA is a Montreal-based record producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist (Nicolas Lajeunesse) whose sound fuses electronic soul, nu-disco, funk, and R&B into warm, groove-driven productions. Trained in choir, clarinet, and alto sax at the city's fine arts school FACE before teaching himself guitar, piano, and beat-making in Reason, he grew up between French-Canadian and African-American roots and busked on Montreal street corners under a sign reading Funky Kola — shortened to KOLA after a stranger shouted it across the street. His 2024 EP Bounce in Peace on Sidekick Music earned widespread acclaim with "Love Myself" and the Fawna collaboration "More Than It Seems," while 2025–2026 singles including Rising, GUCCI, Love Me Crazy, and Fantasy keep a relentless release cadence. Drawing on J Dilla, Daft Punk, and Marvin Gaye, KOLA produces, writes, and performs his own vocals — music built to his exact specifications, then played on repeat.
