Bio

Kirubel Negatu is a record producer, multi‑instrumentalist, mixing engineer, and sound designer based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. As co‑founder and member of the producer duo Seharawi, he has performed on local stages and crafted Afro‑futuristic, genre‑bending sounds bringing new direction for Ethiopia’s contemporary music scene. His work spans film, television, and commercial music. Kirubel has composed scores and soundtracks for acclaimed projects including Black Lions: Roman Wolves (Professor Haile Gerima), Guardian of the Island (Sewmehon Yismaw/Tamrat Mekonen), Danash (Abreham Tadesse), and episodes of Fikir Eske Mekabir (Sewmehon Yismaw). His portfolio also features soundtrack composition and songwriting for the TV series Lijes (Semagngeta Aychiluhim) and compositions for short films such as The Apple (Yabsira Desalegn), Alazar and His Family (Samuel Gutta), The Necklace (Bezawit Fekade), and The Fisherman (Yichlal Abu). In the commercial arena, Kirubel’s sound has driven campaigns for major Ethiopian brands including Ethio Telecom, Dashen Beer, Balageru Beer, Castel Beer, Sinqee Bank, East African Bottling Share Company, and the Ethiopian Engineering Corporation. Across every medium—whether producing records, scoring films, or designing brand soundscapes—Kirubel blends storytelling with bold sonic textures, creating a distinctive style that continues to push Ethiopian music forward.
