Bio

Khrysis (Christopher Tyson) is a Grammy-nominated hip-hop producer, recording engineer, and occasional rapper from Durham, North Carolina. A former core member of the Justus League alongside 9th Wonder, he became an in-house producer for Jamla Records' Soul Council, crafting soul-sampled boom bap for Rapsody, Heather Victoria, GQ, and Reuben Vincent while also producing for Sean Price, Masta Ace, Jean Grae, Black Thought, Conway the Machine, and Murs. With The Away Team and later Jericho Jackson (with Elzhi), he built a catalog defined by intricate drums, uncut soul samples, and vinyl-driven production using Fruity Loops and Cool Edit. His prolific solo run includes The Hour of Khrysis, the Pure IZM series with The Musalini, and the ongoing Khrysis On The Boards instrumental tape series — v.4 dropped June 2026 with 31 tracks. He engineers, mixes, and hosts Beat Critiques on Twitch while selling beats and drum kits via Khrysis.com.
