Khatumu is a Los Angeles–based indie folk artist, songwriter, and self-producing musician originally from Queens, New York. She began making music during COVID lockdowns in Brazil, teaching herself production after watching Dayglow breakdown videos, and later sang tenor in Yale's Whiffenpoofs while earning writing distinctions. Her sound — which she calls electrified folk — layers acoustic songwriting with distortion, intimate vocals, and self-produced arrangements compared to Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, and Mk.Gee. Signed to Bright Antenna Records and managed by Middle Child Management, she has opened for Mon Rovía, Michigander, and Oliver Hazard, toured the Midwest, and built ~170k monthly Spotify listeners. Her 2025 EP free therapy and 2026 follow-up exposure therapy cemented a fast-rising profile across TikTok, live shows, and folk-indie playlists.
