Kalax
Kalax is the synthwave project of Liverpool-based producer Lee Blanshard. He has been making electronic music for well over a decade, drawing on his mother's collection of 80s cassettes and vinyl and on films like The NeverEnding Story, Flight of the Navigator and Legend. Before going solo he played bass and sang in several metal and alternative bands. His catalogue spans multiple albums and EPs — including the self-titled 'Kalax' and 'III' — released through outlets such as NewRetroWave and reissued on vinyl and CD by Aztec Records. The sound blends synthwave, synthpop and chillwave, and has featured in projects ranging from the video game Wave Break to the documentary 'RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop', alongside commissioned work for clients including the BBC and Snapchat. He remains highly active, with his most recent single '11-11' arriving in May 2026.
