John Tejada is a Vienna-born, Los Angeles-based electronic music producer, composer, and DJ, and a professor at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Active since the mid-1990s, he has built one of the deepest catalogs in modern techno, with releases on revered labels including Kompakt, Poker Flat, Cocoon, Plug Research, Playhouse and Defected. In 1996 he founded his own long-running imprint, Palette Recordings, which continues to release his solo work and collaborations. His sound spans crisp minimal techno, warm lo-fi house and detailed IDM, shaped by a hardware-focused, engineer's approach to production. Recent work includes the 2025 album 'The Watchline' on Palette Recordings and a freshly released 2026 rework of Laurel Halo's 'Meridian'. He also hosts a regular show on Los Angeles public radio station KCRW.
