Hammock

PRODUCER · COMPOSER · MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST

Hammock is an American ambient post-rock duo formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2003, consisting of guitarists Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson. Over more than two decades, they have carved out a singular space at the intersection of beatless ambient, shoegaze, neoclassical, and post-rock — producing sweeping, shimmering instrumental music that is all but wordless. Their 2023 album Love in the Void charted on both the Billboard and OCC UK Top 100, and their music has been used in film scores (Columbus, Detroit) and Netflix's After Life series. In 2024–2025 they released A Hopeful Sign, From the Void, and the critically acclaimed Nevertheless, and in 2026 have continued releasing with The Second Coming Was a Moonrise, featuring collaborators including Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips. Their NPR-recognized debut Kenotic (2005) established them as leaders of the modern ambient guitar movement, and they have spent two decades refining a distinctive sonic blueprint that balances quiet and loud, intimate and expansive.
