Francois Kevorkian, known as François K, is a French-born DJ, producer, remixer and label owner based in New York City since 1975. One of the true forefathers of house music, he helped bridge the gap between disco and the underground electronic era, becoming a pioneer of mixing technique at clubs like Paradise Garage and his own legendary Body&SOUL party (co-founded 1996). His remixes span an extraordinary range — Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, The Smiths, U2, Madonna, Diana Ross, Mick Jagger, The Cure, D Train, and Fishbone — earning him a 2005 induction into the Dance Music Hall of Fame alongside Quincy Jones and Chic. In 1987 he founded Axis Studios in NYC, and in 1995 launched Wave Music as his personal label. His Deep Space residency at Cielo (2003-2018) became one of NYC's most acclaimed dance nights. He remains active: in 2026 he teamed up with Dimitri From Paris for 'The Nassau Excursion' EP on Rush Hour Records, a celebration of Compass Point-era Caribbean post-disco.
