Erin Rae is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Jackson, Tennessee, and based in Nashville. She emerged in 2012 as the front of Erin Rae & the Meanwhiles and has since grown into one of Nashville's most distinctive indie folk voices. Her 2018 debut 'Putting On Airs' (Single Lock Records, produced by Dan Knobler) established her atmospheric, roots-inflected sound, while her acclaimed 2022 sophomore album 'Lighten Up' — produced by Jonathan Wilson in Topanga Canyon, California — expanded her palette into baroque-pop, cosmic country, and light psychedelia. Collaborators on that album include Kevin Morby and Meg Duffy (Hand Habits). Her 2026 album 'Whip-Poor-Will' continues her prolific output with a 2025 single 'Said the Swallow to the Jay.' Rae's voice and storytelling have earned comparisons to classic '70s singer-songwriters while remaining unmistakably modern. Her top track 'Wild Blue Wind' has over 5 million Spotify streams. She performs internationally and has appeared at Pickathon and Cayamo. With 28,000+ monthly listeners and a devoted indie Americana following, she is a rising force in Nashville's independent folk scene.
