He is best known for his decades-long musical partnership with Gillian Welch, producing and co-recording every one of her critically acclaimed albums at their own Acony Records studio. Rawlings has produced work for Old Crow Medicine Show, Dawes, and Willie Watson, and has contributed as a musician and arranger to albums by Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes, and Robyn Hitchcock.
