Dave Porter is an American composer for film and television based in Los Angeles, best known for his 15-year creative partnership with Vince Gilligan on some of television's most critically acclaimed properties. He studied classical and electronic music at Sarah Lawrence College before building an unbroken run of major prestige television: Breaking Bad (2008–2013), El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019), Better Call Saul (2015–2022), Preacher, Flesh & Bone, The Blacklist, and Echo. His Breaking Bad main title theme has surpassed 24 million Spotify streams and Bryan Cranston has called his work 'another character in the show.' In 2025, Porter and Gilligan reunited for Apple TV+'s Pluribus, for which Porter composed a sweeping new score featuring a full symphony orchestra and choir — the first time he had worked at that scale — earning an SCL Award nomination and Emmy consideration for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series.
