Professionally sensitive, Daphnie is the alter ego of Sydney drummer and producer Alistair Hayes. After finishing a degree in jazz performance, the self-proclaimed "jazz nerd" renounced formal schooling for alternative pop, launching his solo project and co-starring in the duo youproblem. Hayes produces unusual, jangly soundscapes to support catchy pop melodies, writing, producing, and mixing his own releases from his bedroom studio. A session drummer for The Veronicas, Lastlings, G Flip, The Buoys, Ivoris, and Carla Wehbe, he has supported Last Dinosaurs and MAY-A on tour and earned Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, RAGE, and MTV airplay. His April 2026 single "28" landed on Triple J rotation after a nine-month writing process; earlier releases include "Minimalism," "Cupid," and the album Perfect Piece of Person I'm Made For.
