Conductor Williams
Denzel Williams (b. 1982), known professionally as Conductor Williams, is a Kansas City-born hip-hop producer celebrated for his loop-heavy, soul-chop boom bap aesthetic — typically built around the Roland SP-606 and gritty drum work signed off with his signature 'CONDUCTOR' tag. After roughly two decades working as a railway conductor, he reinvented himself as a full-time beatmaker around 2016 and quickly became one of Griselda Records' most recognizable in-house producers, scoring projects with Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, Boldy James, Mach-Hommy and Rome Streetz. His work crossed over to the rap mainstream when Drake tapped him for 'Stories About My Brother' and '8AM in Charlotte' on 'For All The Dogs' (2023), followed by placements for J. Cole, Joey Bada$$, JID, Your Old Droog and Samy Deluxe. In 2026 his production on Leon Thomas's 'Mutt' won Best R&B Album at the 68th Grammy Awards and was nominated for Album of the Year. He releases instrumental projects under his own name — the long-running 'Conductor We Have a Problem' series, 'OPERATION FLAMETHROWER', 'Trainspotting' and 'The Uncomfortable Truth' — and is a founding member of the Heartbreakers collective with Denny LaFlare and Camoflauge Monk. Represented by Pulse Music Group; releases via Griselda Records and his own Conductor Williams Production imprint.
