Clearcast is the production alias of Franky Kohn, a San Francisco-based producer and DJ whose sound fuses UK garage, stutter house, and left-field internet electronica into dreamy, melodic club music. A guitarist and bassist who grew up in Los Angeles, Kohn moved to the Bay Area in 2019 and found a creative home at HydeFM's DIY radio community — a launchpad that led to monthly radio residencies, Vitamin1k collective membership, and headline sets across San Francisco's underground. The past two years have seen Kohn open for Fred Again.. twice, tour through Detroit, London, New York, and Paris, and perform at Lightning in a Bottle and Portola. Releases land on Tabula Rasa, Helix, fourbyfour, and As You Like It Recordings, with the 2025 single "I Do" earning remixes from hiRobbie and RamonPang and editorial support from Stereofox. Kohn also produced WTRGRL's debut album Dripsody, demonstrating studio depth beyond dancefloor singles. Clearcast's sets balance breakbeat pressure with bright, wistful synth work — garage rooted in the Bay Area renegade scene but fluent in UK bass and experimental pop.
