CHAII (Mona Sanei) is a Persian-New Zealand rapper, songwriter, producer and audio engineer based in Auckland. Born in Iran and raised in New Zealand, she studied sound engineering at SAE Institute Auckland and fuses Persian musical traditions with hip-hop, electronica and alt-pop, producing and engineering her own records. She was named New Zealand's first Spotify RADAR artist, released the EPs 'Lightswitch' (2020) and 'Pineapple Pizza' (2021) and her debut album 'Safar' (2024), and earned 2025 Aotearoa Music Awards nominations for Best Electronic Artist, Album of the Year and Single of the Year. Her music has featured in films, TV and major brand campaigns, with '(Can't Get You) Off My Mind' passing 6 million streams. She continues to release, with the 2026 single 'Ride Or Die'.
