Julian van Straten, known as Bound to Divide, is a South African-born producer, DJ, and sound designer based in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. After growing up on punk-rock and nu-metal, he discovered electronic music through artists like deadmau5 and Skrillex and began producing in 2015 — turning a hobby into a full-time career as a DJ, producer, YouTuber, and founder of the Basic Wavez sound-design platform. His signature sound blends melodic and progressive house, techno, breakbeats, and trance with rock-influenced textures, earning releases on Enhanced Colorize, Monstercat Silk, UV, and Sekora, plus shows across the UK and Europe. Standout tracks like "Tears," "Coming Home (Piece Wise Remix)," and "All I See Is You" have driven millions of streams, while his 2025–2026 run includes singles and remixes such as "Still Here, Still Gone" and "Walk Away (Bound to Divide Remix)." Magnetic Magazine named him among Artists to Watch in 2026.
