Blake Mills
Blake Mills is a Los Angeles-based guitarist, songwriter, producer, and recording engineer widely regarded as one of the most versatile and sought-after collaborators in contemporary music. Born in Santa Monica and raised in Malibu, Mills began his career as co-founder of indie band Simon Dawes before launching a solo career with his 2010 debut and breakthrough 2014 album Heigh Ho. As a producer, he earned a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year (Non-Classical) for Alabama Shakes' landmark Sound & Color (2015), which also won Best Alternative Album. His discography of production credits spans Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan, Beck, Marcus Mumford, Laura Marling, Perfume Genius, Phoebe Bridgers, John Legend, and Japanese Breakfast, among hundreds of others. Eric Clapton famously told Rolling Stone, 'Blake Mills is the last guitarist I heard that I thought was phenomenal.' In 2025 he released his solo album That Wasn't A Dream and continued active studio work. Mills is known for his deeply musical, earthy approach to production that bridges organic instrumentation and subtle electronics.
