Anish Kumar is a 25-year-old British-Indian DJ and producer, originally from Washington in Sunderland and now based in London. He fuses house, disco and South Asian sounds into an infectious club style that has earned repeated co-signs from Four Tet, Daphni, Bonobo, Pete Tong and Danny Howard. His 2021 collaboration with Barry Can’t Swim, “Blackpool Boulevard” (Ninja Tune’s Technicolor imprint), became a surprise underground hit — named Pete Tong’s “Essential New Tune” and Danny Howard’s “Hottest Record in the World.” Following his 2022 debut EP “Postcards,” he has grown into one of the UK dance scene’s most exciting talents, with appearances at Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, Field Day and Four Tet’s All-Dayer. He currently hosts a monthly London party, Sunday Sessions, and is rolling out “AK Cuts,” a four-part compendium of club tracks. He draws around 283,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
